Why eat RAW?
RAW foods are in their original state and have not been cooked. To be precise, food that has not been heated above 48 degrees centigrade, this is where the damage takes place where the nutrients start to deplete. Just to clarify I am talking about plant based foods and not meat of any kind, eggs or dairy products.
You could say that RAW foods are the original fast food – pull it out the ground, pluck it from a tree and voila! there is your food.
If you need any reason to eat more RAW foods, here are some:
Eating RAW keeps you away from two of the main weight gain culprits – refined sugars and flours. RAW food is nutritionally satisfying so you will not feel the need to eat much more.
High Water Content
When food is cooked it loses its moisture. RAW foods, loaded with water, fill you up sooner. You may find yourself eating more frequent, lighter meals.
Lots of Fibre
A diet high in fibre helps decrease the transit time of foodstuff through the digestive tract, lowers blood cholesterol levels and keeps you fuller longer.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that low intake of fruits and vegetables is associated with heart disease, cancer and stroke.
Foods such as almonds, olives, flax and avocados contain oils that allow for the absorption of fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) when eaten with a meal.
By eating RAW, you receive the nutrition contained in naturally occurring oils.
Raw foods are enzyme rich. The enzymes are the spark of life that creates vitality in your food and your body. They are the movers and shakers of everything going on within you. They assist in every function of life in the body.
The high water content keeps the body & cells hydrated and supplies the nutrients needed to maintain skin health.
Eating healthy foods lower on the food chain such as fruits and vegetables can mean less money spent on medication and doctors bills.
Eating clean food is less of a burden on your body because it is pure natural food without additives. It improves elimination of toxins so you do not feel bunged up.
